The city of Crossville is in Cumberland County, Tennessee, and is located about 61 miles west of Knoxville and 99 miles east of Nashville. The city is the county seat for Cumberland County and was founded in 1856. It gets its name from the intersection of two roads, the Kentucky Stock Road and the Great Stage Road, which linked the Nashville and Knoxville areas.
