Akiak City is a small Alaskan town. In the 2010 census, it had a population of 346. According to the 2020 census, the population of Akiak City will be 462 people. The city is home to the Akiak Native Community. It is a subsistence-based settlement located on the south bank of the Kuskokwim River at the head of Aniak Slough.

The population of Akiak is comprised of mostly Native Alaskans. There is only one school and a clinic in the community. There are also fourteen HUD homes and 67 homes without household plumbing. The population is generally young, with many residents in their teens. The median age is 28 years. The majority of households are made up of married couples, but there are a number of single adults. Senior citizens make up 4.0% of the population.
