Garner is a suburb of Raleigh, North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population was 31,159. Although Garner is located in Wake County, it has post office and postal address corresponding to parts of unincorporated Johnston County. This city also serves as a bedroom community for the Research Triangle area. Its population includes a wide range of families, including many retirees and young professionals.

The Garner Police Department is composed of 68 sworn police officers and 10 professional staff members. The city has a permanent residential population of over 31,000 people. The department is split into two different bureaus: the Operations Bureau and the Administration Bureau. Interstate 40 runs north and east through Garner. Exit 303 is located off the highway. From here, US 70 is a major east-west highway through Garner. Most businesses are located along U.S. 70.
