The population of Heth City, Iowa is fairly even throughout the city. There are around 40.1 people per thousand inhabitants. This makes it a fairly even mix for a city with a relatively high number of people in all age brackets. Twenty-four percent of the population was under the age of eighteen and 8.1% was under twenty-four. Twenty-five percent of the population was between the ages of 25 and 44, and twenty-seven percent of the city's population was aged 45 to 64. Another important figure is that there are roughly 81 females per 100 males.

Heath County was first settled in the nineteenth century and was originally dedicated to agriculture. The 19th and 20th centuries saw the development of the area, which led to destruction of the ancient earthworks. The town was eventually incorporated as a village in 1952, and the population grew rapidly over the next decade. In fact, by 1965, the population had doubled from two thousand four hundred and sixty-two to six thousand six hundred and sixty-six residents. As a result, the population of Heath City is one of the three largest cities in the county.
