When Marie and Jim Mackenzie moved to Foxfield 40 years ago, they were thrilled to see the change in the city. When they lived in the area, people still rode horses on the dirt roads. In times of hardship, neighbors would lend a hand. When their barn burned down, neighbors came to their aid and cut down the charred remains. Today, Foxfield is home to 770 residents. The city's name comes from the town of the resident's English in-laws.

They've also tried bringing off-duty sheriffs to the area to monitor traffic. The main traffic artery in Foxfield, US 50, is just a few miles away.

Many residents report that they have Irish, Italian, Polish, and English roots. This is not a large percentage, but it is certainly less than the average American commute. So, residents of the Foxfield area are likely to be a good choice for retired folks, too.
