Woodrow City is situated on the South Shore of Staten Island. It is represented by State Senator Andrew Lanza, Assembly Member Michael Reilly, and New York City Council Member Joe Borelli. It is part of Staten Island Community District 3 and is patrolled by the 123rd Precinct of the New York City Police Department.

The city's population is made up of over 9,700 residents, including twenty-four percent of children under 18 years of age. Forty-four percent of households were headed by a married couple. Another twenty-one percent were headed by single people, and forty-four percent were non-families. The median age of residents was forty years.
