The following is a brief history of the town of Morrisonville, Louisiana, United States. Its population was 1,468 in 2000. In 1959, the Dow Chemical Company moved into the area and began producing vinyl chloride, a colorless gas that is harmful to humans and plants. It is a byproduct of plastic production. In 1990, the town received a public health warning after it was found in its wells.

The first store in Morrisonville was built by N.N. Bell in 1851. The goods he sold were shipped to Morrisonville on the new railroad. The next store was built by C.M. Leiberman on Carlin Street. The third merchant was D.F. Bonnell, who entered Morrisonville's commercial life in 1870. The picnic continues to feature speakers, a bull frog jumping contest, and free movies.
