The population of Albion City, IN is approximately 8,616 people. It is part of the Battle Creek Metropolitan Statistical Area. Albion is a conservatively-leaning college town. Many of its former foundries closed, and in 2002 the Trillium Hospital closed, taking about 200 jobs with it. As of 2016, the city's school district merged with Marshall's.

The town was once a booming industrial center, but this is no longer the case. While the downtown area of Albion is no longer thriving, it does have a strong college and university system.
