Fowlerton City is located in the Texas state of Texas. Fowlerton is a small city that was settled in 1872. Fowlerton's population is approximately 2,300 people. The city is made up of two main areas - Houston Street and State Highway 97. The town is home to the Fowlerton Post Office, Fowlerton Mini Mall, and Fowlerton High School. The community has a single park that is located on the west side of Houston Street.
The town has a good water system, but no farming. The soil is severely damaged due to salt and lack of water. There are no other major industries in Fowlerton, and residents are increasingly moving into smaller cities. Fowlerton's chances of survival are slim. While the city was once prosperous, its economy was built on the farms, railroads, and a cotton gin. Fowlererton had to invest in a costly water system to keep crops growing. Two dams were constructed to keep the water flowing. Farmers sold their crops to other towns and faraway places, and were often late with trains.
In 1917, the town's population declined because of a drought. The resulting shortage of water caused residents to rely on saltwater to drink. Sadly, this situation forced residents to cut down on their cotton and vegetable farming, which deteriorated the town's economy. However, some residents are happy to remain in Fowlerton, as the town is quiet and peaceful, despite the lack of services.
