A recent census revealed that there are almost 12,000 residents in Linn Grove City. The population of this mid-sized community was fairly evenly split, with 7.6% of the population being under the age of 18 and 24. Twenty-four percent of residents were 25-44, and a quarter of that group was 65 years of age and older. The median age of residents was 42. Males outnumbered females by 86.7 to one, with males aged 18 and older outnumbering their female counterparts by nearly eighty-three to one.
The Bohemian Immigrant Rural Settlement in Linn County, Iowa, was founded during the 1856 census and eventually spread into the southern portion of Fairfax Township. Some of these former Bohemian farmsteads still stand in the area, some of them occupied by descendants. The name "Bohemian" refers to those who were born in Bohemia or Moravia.
