Monon City is a small town located in White County, Indiana. According to the 2010 census, there are approximately 1,777 residents living in the town. The city is in the Keystone-Monon neighborhood, which extends from 38th Street to 54th Street, between Monon Avenue and Keystone Avenue. In the 2010 census, the population of this neighborhood increased by 7.5%. The neighborhood's Black population increased from 2,313 to 1,447, a change of nearly half of its total population. By 2020, the percentage of Black residents is expected to drop to 30%.

Monon City has a mixed population. The median age of the population is 32 years old. There are a total of 642 households in the city. Approximately 50 percent of the households are families with children. The rest are made up of single individuals. About fourteen percent of households are senior citizens living alone.

Monon City has several attractions. Visitors can visit the Carmel Clay Historical Society to learn more about the city's history. The society was founded in 1975 by a group of local residents. There are also a number of parks in the area. For those who enjoy being outside, the 161-acre Central Park is a great place to visit. The park also features a skate park, fitness studios, an outdoor aquatic center, and a running track.

The Monon Greenway is a popular multi-use trail in the city. This trail is part of the Rails-to-Trails movement and runs from 10th Street near downtown Indianapolis through 96th Street in Carmel. The trail then continues north, through Westfield, and ends in Sheridan near the intersection of Opel and 236th Street. A sign prohibiting speed on the trail was added in January 2006.
