Munster is a city in Indiana. It is located in Lake County and is approximately 24 miles south of Chicago. Originally, the town was settled by native Americans and was organized in 1845. During this time, it had a population of about 500. The suburbia era began after the 1920s and commuters moved into the area. However, after the Great Depression, all growth stopped. In addition, the city was faced with a housing shortage after World War II, which forced developers to create Independence Park. During this time, the population was composed of well-to-do commuters, small farmers, and industrial workers.
