During WWII, a schoolteacher in Bazine named Kenneth R. Timken paved the way for this small town to become a post office. Today, the town still holds that post office and is home to a number of local businesses.
Bazine was one of the first communities to build a school. In 1907, the town was home to a junior high school and a high school. It closed after school unification. Its mascot was the Indians. During its operation, the school had a total of 41 students and six graduates. In 2006, the school was listed for sale on eBay for $55,000.
