If you're wondering about the population of Pearl River City, Louisiana, you're not alone. The city is located in the county of Saint Tammany Parish. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 2,506, with a density of 666 people per square kilometer. The city's estimated 2020 population is 2,618. The population is diverse and growing. The town has three main streets, Franklin, Central and Huffy. Franklin Street is named after Benjamin Franklin. Both Franklin and Central Avenue are named after the founders of the city. The two brick train stations are still in use today. In 1872, Julius E. Braunsdorf donated a piece of land to the New Jersey and New York Railroad. Ultimately, the railroad built the railroad to the city.

The city was incorporated on June 5, 1973. This same week, the Mississippi Supreme Court approved the incorporation. Governor William Winter presides over the city's first Pearl Day celebration. Officials of the city were sworn in July 3, 1973. The city is situated approximately halfway between Atlanta and Dallas. In terms of population, Pearl is relatively small compared to most cities. Its population is only about 34,000.

In addition to the Choctaw tribe, the Native American population of Pearl River City was diverse. The city's higher terraces were occupied by Muskogean-speaking peoples. The Biloxi people occupied the lower area of the Pearl River and Pascagoula, speaking a Siouxan language. They were primarily farmers and had a large herd of cattle.
