This town was originally an unorganized township, but was later incorporated as a town. Originally, the town was named after Daniel Carroll, who was a signer of the United States Constitution. It is located near State Routes 6 and 170. In the 2020 census, the population of Carroll is estimated to be 138. It is a part of the Bangor Metropolitan Statistical Area.
