The Suitland City, MD, population was 22,366 at the 2010 census. There were 10,139 households, out of which 3,682 were non-families and 6,457 were families. The median age was 34 years and the median household size was 2.53. The population was primarily male, with an approximate ratio of 89.6 males to every 100 females.

In 2011, the median household income in Suitland-Silver Hill was $56,217, and the per capita income was $26,042. In 2004, 7.4% of the population and 2.5% of households lived below the poverty line, which was higher than the state average. The Suitland Parkway runs through the city's CDP. Residents can also access the Capital Beltway from Branch Avenue or Pennsylvania Avenue (MD 4).

In the mid-1990s, Wayne Curry conceived a revitalization plan for Suitland, which was part of a county-wide initiative to improve townships inside the Beltway. In 1997, the Prince George's County Redevelopment Authority purchased the Manchester Square housing project and worked to revitalize the area. While it did not result in a revitalized area, the town was still plagued with crime. Two elderly women were murdered in 2003, and the Federal Center's fence was replaced with a regular wrought iron fence.

Currently, there are two subway stations in Suitland. One station is on the Green Line and the other is on the Blue Line. Branch Avenue connects the city to the city's downtown. The Suitland station is located at the intersection of Silver Hill Road and Suitland Parkway. In addition to the Suitland train station, the Suitland Road station is located on the north side of the city. The intersection between Auth Way and Capital Gateway Drive is accessible by car, bus, or bike.
