The city is known for its many public amenities, including Massasoit Community College's Middleborough Campus. It is also the location of a new $103 million high school building. Construction began in February 2019 and is anticipated to be completed by spring 2021. The city also serves approximately 50,000 people a day by bus. A commuter rail station has also been planned for Middleboro. MBTA provides frequent, direct rail service to downtown Boston and Cape Cod. MassDOT is currently working on a plan for the next phase of the project, which would connect Middleboro with the Providence/Stoughton Line.
