The population of Farmingtn Hls City, Minnesota, is spread out across all age groups. Twenty-one percent of its residents are under the age of 18 and 6.7% are between the ages of 18 and 24. Twenty-five percent of residents are between the ages of 25 and 44, thirty-two percent are between the ages of 45 and 64, and fifteen percent are 65 years or older. The city is located in the southwest portion of Walled Lake and Clarenceville school districts.

In the late 1800s, Farmington was considered a small village serving a farming community. However, the post-World War II building boom changed the town into a suburban area. In the late 1960s, the city incorporated a 500-acre tract of land to expand the city. Today, Farmington is the second most populous city in Oakland County and has a population of 83,986 people.
