The first recorded resident of Babbitt City was Samuel Perry Babbitt, born on Oct. 1, 1790. He was a farmer and vestry clerk in the Parish Church of New Ashford. He was married to Susanna Thomas, who was born in Halifax and died on March 31, 1825. Their children included Joseph Thomas, William Alphonso Babbitt, and Eliza Ann Todd.

The Everts family lived on John Street. Their sons were Julius and Daniel. Julius was born Sept. 17, 1820. He married Mary Ann Clark in 1845. He married Sarah Ann West, who died on Sept. 14, 1825. Their sons included James W. and Phoebe Babbitt. The Evertts lived in Babbitt City until their deaths.

The Tucker family was led by Nathaniel S. Tucker. Nathaniel was born in Saco, Me., and married Charlotte Strong on Oct. 2, 1836. They had eight children, and their first wife, Charlotte Strong, died on Sept. 28, 1807. The Tuckers later moved to Babbitt City and died there. The two women's children died in the 1850s.
