In 1876, the sawmill was located in the area. In 1876, John Easley was appointed postmaster. The railroad came to the area, and employees went to the store owned by the railroad superintendent, Donaldson. Donaldson's son, William Rhind Donaldson, was a postmaster. Eventually, the sawmill was closed, and the railroad workers went to his son's store, which he named William Rhind Donaldson.
