Emmons City is a town in Connecticut, United States. Its population is around 950. It is the county seat of Emmons County. It is a small town, but is the center of business and government for Emmons County. The population is in the top twelve percent of the state's cities.

This is below the state average of 30.3% and is lower than neighboring cities like Hanlontown and Blue Earth. As of the 2010 Census, 15.3% of the housing units in Emmons were occupied by renters.

While Emmons City is a modern city, it has a historic past. It was founded in 1874. It was originally named Devil's Colony and was established to serve the soldiers stationed at Fort Yates. It was the largest town between Bismarck and Pierre. In 1884, the town had a school and a county newspaper. In 1885, its population reached 200. In 1887, it became a community named Westfield, after a neighboring town. The population declined in the early 1900s with the creation of Linton.
