Pequot Lakes, MN is a small town in Minnesota. Before the late 1990s, it was a sleepy railroad town with a township surrounding it. Then, the city experienced a rapid boom. This growth was largely due to linear development along major transportation corridors, which offset declines in the city's core neighborhoods. In addition, the shoreline area of the city attracted a wealthy population.

Pequot Lakes, MN is located in Crow Wing County. The city is approximately 18 square miles and comprises over 11,000 acres. Its population is estimated to be 2,449 by 2021. The city is home to around 1,063 households. The city provides many services, including water and sewer, planning, zoning, and public works.

Pequot Lakes was platted in 1900. It was originally called Sibley after a logger named Sibley, but a postal official changed the name to Pequot, as it sounded more Indian. Pequot Lakes has a post office that has been in operation since 1896. The city also has a Northern Pacific Railroad station. It has a historic Cole Memorial Building and the Historical Society Museum, which represent life during the Depression and World War II eras.

Pequot Lakes has a population of 2,162 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area.
