The population of Cabool is approximately 2,080, down from its high of 2,166 in 2000. The city was named after Kabul, Afghanistan, because the construction engineer working on the railroad in Cabool had worked on the same project in Afghanistan. Previously known as Cedar Bluff, Cabool is the only "Cabool" in the US. Cabool is a small town in Texas County.
