The Census Bureau has estimated the population of Hobson City, Alabama at 724. Ninety-one percent of the residents were black, compared with seven percent white, 1.3 percent Hispanic, and 0.8 percent two or more races. The population is primarily white, though there are a few Asian residents, as well. The city is part of the Oxford City Schools district, and a public school is located in Ayers Campus less than two miles east.
