The population of the village was fairly evenly distributed. Twenty-seven percent of residents were under the age of eighteen. Twenty-one percent were between the ages of 18 and 24. Twenty-two percent were between 25 and 44 years old. Twenty-four percent of households were not families. Twenty-five percent of households were comprised of only one person, and 11.8% were senior citizens living alone. While the median age was fourteen, males outnumbered females in the village.

The population of Miller County grew rapidly during World War I. Many women volunteered to work at the Red Cross canteen in the Union Depot. Many residents remember the trains that passed through the town, carrying soldiers back and forth. Fortunately, most towns in Miller County have their own war memorials. The effects of the Depression on the area were largely unknown. The town of Texarkana, however, hosted a Works Progress Administration office.
