Little Silver, New Jersey Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

In order to find out who lives in Little Silver City, NJ, we looked at the racial composition of the city. While males are more likely to be in poverty than females, overall the inequality is less than half that of the national average. In addition to racial composition, we looked at how much people earned by occupation and income. We found that 65.7% of Little Silver's residents drove alone to work, compared to 23.7% who used public transportation and 9.04% who worked from home. The chart below shows the percent of households that used different forms of transportation to commute to work over the past year. The scale is logarithmic to give more accurate representation of changes among the smaller means of transportation.

Since Silver City is remote, its downtown is unlikely to attract large numbers of day trip or pass-through tourists. The closest major highway is Interstate 10, about an hour away. Therefore, most tourists come to Silver City with a pre-determined purpose. Improving signage and wayfinding are two ways to increase downtown visibility. In 2008, the Silver City Visitor Center reported over 21,000 walk-in visitors.

The population of the Town is made up of many seasonal visitors and retirees. Its residents spend more money at retail establishments than the State as a whole. Furthermore, many residents are self-employed. While the population of the Town is small, it does contribute to the local economy. The local economy generates about $68 million in sales annually, and its population is growing by nearly three percent each year.
