What is the population and sate of Callicoon? Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the city is home to approximately 2,000 residents. The area is characterized by a laid-back, rural lifestyle and friendly small-town hospitality. There are also plenty of attractions in the Callicoon Ctr, including a farmer's market and gourmet markets, as well as antique shops, coffee shops, and restaurants. The downtown area is home to several galleries and upscale restaurants.

There are a number of places to visit in the Callicoon community. Callicoon's hamlet is located on Main Street, and is primarily composed of small retail and service businesses. The town also includes the Upper Delaware Campgrounds, located on 34 acres downstream of the city's Callicoon Youth Center. The town is also home to Lander Canoe Base, which sits near the confluence of the Callicoon Creek and River.

A variety of real estate is available in the Callicoon area. Most homes in the area are single-family homes. Many of these are in great condition and are located in areas near the commercial district. The northwest section of the town is home to recently developed larger lots. Multi-family housing units are also interspersed throughout the town and are located on the upper floors of commercial buildings.

The Sullivan County Democrat is a bi-weekly newspaper, with its head office on Main Street. In the past, the Callicoon area was home to Delaware Valley Central School. The district was later merged with Jeffersonville and Narrowsburg, and the Jeffersonville Elementary School became the only public elementary school in the area. In 1848, the first train on the Delaware Division went through Callicoon. A local man gave the brakeman a banner that read "The Iron Horse From the Hudson."
