Fpo New York, New York Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

The NYC PFF database provides up-to-date population, housing, and social data for NYC neighborhoods and communities. The datasets are created by analyzing decennial census and American Community Survey data. The data enables users to easily compare demographics, social and economic characteristics, and housing characteristics of specific neighborhoods and communities against those of the entire city, boroughs, and Neighborhood Tabulation Areas. It also features information on how those characteristics have changed over time.

The NYC region is home to approximately 2.7 million people. About 19% of these people are college graduates, and another 24% hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree. A majority of residents are employed, with 62.8% earning less than $50,000 per year. The median age of residents is 37, and many are single or divorced. Five-and-a-half of the residents live in single-family homes and the other 42% are renters.

The NYC Population FactFinder features next-generation web mapping technology. Users can easily zoom in and out of the map. In addition, they can adjust the pitch and bearing by using the scrollwheel or the compass icon. They can also use the locator control to zoom in on a specific location. Users should be aware of the fact that this map requires web browser permission.

The NYC population has been steadily increasing over the last several decades. According to the 2000 census, nearly eight million people lived in the city. Although this number is low compared to other major American cities, New York City's population had no net growth between 1950 and 2000. During the 1970s, the city's population dropped by almost a million people as the result of crime and decreasing economic prospects. However, the population bounced back during the 1980s, and has been steadily increasing ever since.
