Dobson is a town in Surry county, North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,586. By 2020, the population is projected to grow to 1,534. The city was founded 131 years ago in 1890. Today, the town is home to the Surry Community College and county government offices. It is also an excellent destination for a weekend or day trip.

The Surry County Board of Commissioners meets the first and third Monday of every month at the Historic Courthouse, located at 114 West Atkins Street, Dobson.
