In 1873, the people of Raub City requested a borough government. It was granted in 1874. The city soon grew into a thriving oil town when the oily ocean began to reveal its treasures. Soon, hundreds of houses and a thousand oil derricks were popping up in this area. Now, the area has a population of approximately 8,500 people.
