Bridgeport, Ohio Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

While you're visiting the city, you'll probably wonder what the Population & Steets in Bridgeford City are like. There are a couple of reasons why. For one, Bridgeport was a hotbed of industry until the early 20th century, when 500 factories operated in the city. The workers and the owners of these factories frequently came into contact. The city's Remington Products building, which produced personal care products, sits next to a giant mansion built by the relatives of P.T. Barnum.

The German and Irish population in the city was growing in numbers with the arrival of railroads. In addition, many German and Irish immigrants moved to Bridgeport. This influx brought the Union Rolling Mills, located at South Fork and Archer Road, to the city. This industrial boom resulted in the construction of the New Lumber District, which reflected the growing Irish population. But despite the increased numbers of immigrants, the German community in Bridgeport City did not take root.

The 1930 census counted foreign-born and second-generation residents in the city. The total number of residents was 49,109 in 1930, almost fifty percent higher than in 1910. Nearly twenty percent of residents were Polish. The next largest ethnic group was Lithuanians at almost 17 percent. Germans and Italians were sixth at seven and a half percent. The Czechs constituted two and a half percent of the population, but there was no specific census number. The overall population was down by nearly seventy percent from 1920.
