Idanha, Oregon Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

Idanha City is a one-square-mile town in Marion and Linn counties in Oregon. The city is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Albany-Lebanon Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is situated on the Santiam River, and has 134 residents. The city is home to a post office, fire station, and country store. In addition to this, it also has several recreational spots, including the Idanha City Park.

The city was a stop on the Oregon Pacific Railroad's transcontinental line. However, because of the lack of funding, the railroad service ceased in 1950. Because of this, the community saw minimal development until the 1970s, when it was eventually eliminated for the development of Detroit Lake, a reservoir that sits on the historic roadbed of the Oregon Pacific Railroad. Despite the town's history, it continues to attract travelers and tourists.

Residents of Idanha-a-Nova enjoy a great quality of life and close proximity to nature. The Lourenco family, a Restart case study participant, moved from Lisbon to Idanha after receiving guidance from the Restart team. This family's experience in Idanha-a-Nova is encouraging to others. During the early stages of their relocation, they were unsure of how to proceed, but their tenacity and determination helped them make the move.

The Idanha Green Valley program, which aims to preserve the local environment, is a land-bound identity for the city. The program includes 348 entities, including the Living Seeds project in Idanha-a-Nova. The project works to grow and process free-pollinated biological seeds. Among other projects, the Living Seeds project works with local farmers to preserve local biodiversity.
