Lorane is a rural area, with a population density of five people per square mile. This makes it less dense than 98.2% of American neighborhoods. Its low population density makes it one of the least crowded places in the country. It is also one of the quietest places in the country, according to NeighborhoodScout's analysis.

In June 1908, farmers from both townships decided to incorporate the town as a village. The first mayor was Arthur A. Stearns, great-grandson of David Johnson Stearns, who would later serve on the Board of the CLEVELAND PUBLIC LIBRARY. In November, the town was officially incorporated as a village. By the end of the decade, the town was home to its first public library. In the same year, the Old Town Hall was built.

Lorraine City is located in the French region of Lorraine. It is a historic region and is home to several UNESCO-listed squares. The largest city in the region is Nancy. Other large cities include Metz, Thionville, Luneville, and Epinal. The Lorraine region also includes the towns of Thys, Forbach, Saint-Die-des-Vosges, and Vanduvre-les-Nancy.
