When it comes to population and steets, St. Matthews, Kentucky, is an ideal place to call home. Located in Jefferson County, it is home to over seventeen thousand residents and is part of the Louisville Metro government. As of the 2010 census, St. Matthews was home to a population of 15,852. The city is a major shopping center, with the Oxmoor Center and Mall St. Matthews serving as its two main shopping centers. There are also numerous smaller malls lining Shelbyville Road.

In the early 20th century, St. Matthews was a significant potato producer. The St. Matthews Produce Exchange was the second-largest potato shipper in the United States. As automobile and urban transit began to spread throughout the area, farmers began to subdivide their land into residential areas. Local streets were named after landowners, though many of these neighborhoods have a modern shopping district. Trinity High School, an historic institution, is located nearby.
