The survey conducted in 2021 about the population and steets of Tooele City does not include all demographic characteristics. In fact, the survey respondents are not fully representative of Tooele City's population. This is because females, people with a four-year college degree, and those with children living in the household are overrepresented. On the other hand, people in their 18-29 age bracket are underrepresented. These factors will be included later in the survey.

Tooele was originally a small, nine-square-mile settlement. In 1849, three Mormon families settled in the area. The town grew to be the county seat of Tooele County. The smelting industry continued to thrive in Tooele, and the city was home to over 1,000 families. Today, descendants of the pioneer families that settled in Tooele are still part of the community.
