Bees are an important part of the landscape in every city. The City of Decatur, Ga., became Bee City USA in March 2019. This designation recognizes the city's efforts to enhance its natural habitat for pollinators. The city pledged to use no pesticides, plant native species, increase naturalization, and add pollinator garden beds. For more information on Bee City USA, please visit the website.

The World Bee City focuses on promoting sustainable urban habitats for pollinators that benefit urban ecosystems, local economies, and public wellbeing. The organization also develops Best Practice Guides and accreditation schemes for urban beekeeping initiatives. Its goal is to help cities improve pollinator habitats while increasing local food production, environmental health, and economic sustainability. To this end, it collaborates with many existing initiatives and provides a comprehensive accreditation and evaluation scheme.

The city's Community Gardens have become Bee City USA affiliates, providing a healthy environment for pollinators. The city's Parks & Recreation Department has designated their manager as the liaison between the city and the Bee Council. It also holds educational events and expands bee-friendly habitats. This affiliation will also hold educational events every year. And with a growing awareness of pollinator issues and the importance of their habitat, the City's residents can do their part in preserving bees.

The city is located on the eastern heights. Beed was part of the Asaf Jahi kingdom under the rule of Aurangzeb. It later became part of the Hyderabad state. Its long-term ruler Jan Sipar Khan built the Jama Masjid of Beed. In 1036 AH (1627), he also constructed a new fort and built a new citadel.
