Colfax is a small city in Placer County, California, United States. The city is located near Interstate 80 and State Route 174 and is part of the Sacramento-Arcade-Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). As of the 2010 census, the population of Colfax was 1,963 people. Its name is a tribute to former Vice President Schuyler Colfax (1869-73). A statue honoring the former President stands on Main Street near the railroad station. Downtown shops and restaurants can be found along the CBD. Colfax High School serves the surrounding area.
