Lacrosse, Washington Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

In the 2010 census, Lacrosse's population was 114,872. Today, it's the thirteenth largest city in the nation. City planners are considering an increase in the number of board seats. This will increase the number of elected officials from the city to represent them on the state and county level. However, it may be too early to make any final decisions on whether to add more board seats to the city's government.

The city's population is primarily white, with a low percentage of minorities. The number of young adults is exceptionally large, while the proportion of middle-aged adults is slightly below average. Families are relatively small in comparison to the rest of the country, with just over a fifth of households consisting of two people. The number of people older than 65 is also small, indicating that this area is low on the social mobility scale.

A number of early Europeans and French fur traders traveled the Mississippi River. However, the first written record of La Crosse doesn't exist until 1805, when Lt. Zebulon Pike, an official of the United States, mounted an expedition up the river. His team recorded the town's location as "Prairie La Crosse," a term which comes from an ancient Native American game played with sticks that resemble bishop's crozier.
