Tariffville is a small town located in northeastern Connecticut. It is bounded on the north and northwest by the Farmington River, while the southern and eastern borders follow the crest of Talcott Mountain. This is a popular destination for whitewater paddlers.

In 2010, the city had a population of about 6,400. Almost half of these people were children, with 29.6% of households having children under the age of 18. The majority of households, however, were made up of married couples, with 46.1% consisting of two parents. The rest of the population was made up of single individuals. Nine percent of households contained an individual over 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.22, and the average family size was 2.87.
