Nichols, Wisconsin Statistic: Population, Charts, Map, Steets and More

The Population & Steets of Nichols City is a brief description of the town. Its post office was established by Isaac Nichols in 1850, and letters had to be mailed by walking down Lower George-street. This street is still much the same today and is a replica of a country town in England. The area is bounded by the Tank Stream, which was once used by small coasters for discharges.

In the early days of the city, Nichols' house was constructed of brick, probably made in the old Government brickyards. His death in 1819, however, forced the city to move the post office to the great building, and the police were established in the old market house. Although Nichols's house is still the most prominent building in the area, it has been home to several other buildings.
