In Alva City, the stadholder of Holland announced an extermination policy to the population of other cities. This policy, while aimed at acquiescing the residents of Holland, had the opposite effect. Naarden's fate didn't frighten the citizens of the rest of Alva, and the little garrison was frozen up in Amsterdam. The resulting crisis led to a number of unrest among the Hollanders.
