The population of Docena City has reached a high of 1,228 during the Second World War. The number of workers grew and became more mobile, decreasing their reliance on the TCI. Eventually, the town's real estate was sold to John W. Galbreath Real Estate Company, which remodeled and expanded the homes before selling them. Several of the residents remained in Docena after the sale and took advantage of the company's financing plan.
The population of Docena City is primarily black. As of the 1950 census, the town was an unincorporated area with a majority of black residents. Despite this large minority population, the town has a healthy economy and a vibrant community life. In addition to manufacturing steel, residents enjoy community sports such as baseball, football, basketball, and swimming. Its residents also enjoy industrial league baseball and weekly dances, community singing, and company-sponsored lectures. The town expanded to meet the increasing demand of steel during the war. The town expanded its population in 1918 to meet the demand and added additional homes to accommodate the increased number of workers. They also renovated existing homes, adding running water, and paying only $6 per month for their homes.
