Fort Lesley J. McNair is a United States Army post located on Greenleaf Point at the confluence of the Anacostia River and Potomac River in Washington, D.C. It has been in service for over 200 years. Fort McNair was formerly known as Washington Arsenal. By 1908, nearly 90 percent of the fort's buildings were in place. The fort served as a military post and became the Army's center of senior officer training. The first classes were held in 1904.
