LaBelle was a town on the Caloosahatchee River about 18 miles from downtown Fort Myers. The town's name comes from a small village that existed prior to the county being established in 1887. There are likely older records of this community in the chronicles of Hernando County. The town was platted in 1885 on approximately 154 acres. It was southwest of Little Lake Henderson.
