The Borough of Park Ridge, New Jersey, was incorporated in 1894. It covers an area of 2.6 square miles and is bounded by the towns of Montvale, Woodcliff Lake, Hillsdale, and the Township of River Vale. In the last census, the population of Park Ridge was 8,633 people, down from the ten thousand residents in 2000. The population is expected to continue to grow and has increased by nearly 3% in the next few years.

The governing body of Park Ridge is made up of a Mayor and six members of the Borough Council. Borough Council members are elected in partisan elections, and elect a President at their annual reorganization meeting. There are two Mayors who have served in the city for more than one term: Richard Mancinelli and Donald Ruschman. Both served as Councilmembers in the town before they became Mayors.
