Prospect Heights has a population of 16,370. Its median household income is $61,442 per year. It is located along Lake Michigan. Its climate is most pleasant during the summer months. However, it is less hospitable during winter. In a recent census, it was found that nearly a fifth of the city's households are renters.
While Prospect Heights used to be a predominantly African American neighborhood, it is now more mixed-race. The neighborhood's white population has increased by 3,000 people in a decade, from around 13,000 people in 2010 to over sixteen thousand in 2020. It also has a large Hispanic and Asian population.
