Islesford is a small hamlet on Little Cranberry Island, located in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Mount Desert Island. The town has a population of about 200 summer residents, and only 65 year-round residents. This charming little island features a dockside restaurant, a historic museum, and art galleries. There are few paved roads in the town, so you'll need to navigate by boat in order to get around.

The Islesford Historical Museum is open Monday through Friday from nine to noon. Its mission is to celebrate the cultural heritage of the town and preserve it for future generations. It is free to visit the museum, and you don't need to make reservations. The museum is accessible via a mail boat from Northeast Harbor or a tour boat from Southwest Harbor. The museum also offers a 45-minute historical cruise that makes a stop at the museum.

The Islesford Boatworks has increased its involvement in the summer programs in recent years. It has hosted over 150 people during the summer of 2015, and over 250 students over the past eight years.
