Located at the head of Chesapeake Bay in northeastern Maryland, Havre de Grace offers an array of recreational activities and high access to health care. Nearly one in five residents in this city are 65 years or older. In addition to a reputable hospital, the city has a senior center and a number of nonprofit organizations. However, it's important to keep in mind that these stats are from the U.S. Census Bureau, and are not necessarily indicative of the city's current population.

For a comprehensive look at the city's past, visit the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum. Founded in 1988, this museum showcases the maritime heritage and history of the Susquehanna River region. Its nearly two dozen permanent exhibits feature a signature exhibit about Captain John Smith's 1608 visit. Other exhibits detail local fishing history, the native waterfowl population, and the local United States Coast Guard. A ground floor boat shop offers recreations of historic vessels.

The town's Main Street district offers several shopping options. A 9,000-square-foot antique mall and a BrewMania Beer MuZeum is just a few blocks away. The Bahoukas Antique Mall is the vision of local entrepreneur George Adams, who also founded the BrewMania Beer MuZeum. The store has six dealers, and is open six days a week, except for Tuesdays.
