Coopersville is a midsized city in western Michigan. Located 25 miles from Lake Michigan, this city enjoys pleasant weather year-round. This small city is about half an hour's drive from Grand Rapids, the primary business and cultural center of western Michigan. Coopersville began as a furniture-producing center in the early twentieth century due to its plentiful hardwood forests. Today, however, the city is primarily known for its high-tech office furniture industry, and is less susceptible to the auto industry's fluctuation than other parts of the state.

The population of Coopersville grew to nearly 2,000 by the early 1900s. The town's historic center was destroyed by fires in 1893 and 1898. By 1850, the Detroit and Milwaukee Railroad decided to build a depot in Coopersville, which was completed in time for the first train to travel through town. In 1871, Coopersville was incorporated as a village. Today, the population of Coopersville has more than doubled from 500 people in 1871.
