In 1892, the Pottsville Daily Republican published an article announcing the incorporated city of Tower. The city's population grew and soon became a major center of coal production. Within a few years, Tower was incorporated into the county. It was named after its first landowner, Charlemagne Tower. Tower's first real estate venture was a practice in Orwigsburg.
